The Need for a single law for marriage and divorce for all citizens of Israel, regardless of nationality and religion.

One of the basic rights of a citizen is the right to marry. In Israel, there is no single law for citizens of different social strata that determines the procedure for marriage and divorce. This causes discrimination and numerous problems: for example, if a man and a woman want to get married: the groom’s mother is Jewish and his father, for example, is French, and the bride’s father is Jewish and her mother is French, then they can only get married abroad or live “in a civil”. If a dispute arises between a man and a woman married through a rabbanut (child custody, division of property, etc.), such a dispute will be considered in court (civil or religious), where one of the spouses will be the first to file documents. It should be noted that religious and secular laws do not always coincide, and if, for example, a man refuses to grant a woman a “get” divorce, the woman cannot marry a second time. A serious problem is the marriage of Arabs, citizens of Israel, with Arabs from the territories” this is related to the security of the country and must also be taken into account. In our opinion, the right of a citizen to marry should be equal regardless of religion or nationality.
